At St John’s, PREP takes place during morning registrations with all tutors beginning the session with the sign of the cross and our school prayer.

The pastoral tutor is the first point of contact for students, parents and carers; they are here to discuss the well-being and education of each child.  Tutors meet with their groups on a daily basis for PREP, Collective worship and pastoral sessions.  In this role, staff work hard to establish positive working relationships with each student and their families, offering support for any personal, social, academic or attendance issues which may arise.

Following the prayer, registers are taken and equipment and planners are checked by tutors.  Important school notices are given out during PREP.

Each student is given a school planner at the start of the academic year.  Students are expected to have their planner out and placed on desks at the start of PREP and of every lesson so that they can record any important details. Subjects should be noted daily with the lesson focus recorded alongside any homework. Details of the homework set should be entered in the student’s school planner.  Planners should be signed by parents/carers and tutors on a weekly basis as it is a good way of communicating between home and school.

All Year Groups have a weekly assembly in the Main Hall with a member of the Leadership Team or with their Head of Year/Assistant Head of Year.

Students will be in congregation on assembly days and tutors will escort them down to the Main Hall in an orderly fashion. Assemblies begin at 9.00am once students have been seated in their pastoral groups with their tutors.
