During the final week of term, 230 students from Years 8, 9 and 10 had the fantastic opportunity to visit Bishop Auckland College for a series of exciting and highly practical enrichment sessions. This special day allowed our students to explore new skills, discover potential career pathways, and enjoy hands-on learning in professional environments.

A Wide Range of Inspiring Activities

Students were able to choose from an impressive variety of workshops, giving them a taste of real college courses and industry-standard facilities. Activities included:

  • E-Sports – experiencing competitive gaming setups
  • Hairdressing – practising salon techniques
  • Festive Art – creating Christmas-themed crafts
  • Catering – cooking delicious festive treats
  • Beauty – making lip scrubs and face masks
  • Motor Vehicles – learning how to change a tyre
  • Construction – building a brick wall
  • Photography – taking and developing photos in a specialist studio
  • Music Technology – recording their own songs in the Music studio

The level of engagement, creativity and enthusiasm from students was outstanding. Many discovered new interests or grew more confident in areas they had never tried before.

A Valuable Enrichment Experience

Not only did these sessions develop practical skills, they also helped students gain a deeper insight into what life at college is like and the wide range of opportunities available beyond school. Hands-on experiences like these are essential for broadening horizons and helping students make informed choices about their future.
