Our St John’s Sixth Form students enjoyed an unforgettable cultural experience this week as our Performing Arts and Art groups travelled to the historic city of York for a day filled with creativity, inspiration, and powerful theatre.
A Phenomenal Performance: Prima Facie Starring Jodie Comer
The highlight of the trip was a stunning performance of the award‑winning one‑woman play Prima Facie, starring the extraordinary Jodie Comer. Known for her acclaimed role in Killing Eve, Comer delivered a gripping and emotional performance that left a lasting impression on our students.
The play explores themes of justice, truth, and the challenges faced by women within the legal system—topics that sparked thoughtful conversations among students long after the final curtain fell.
Exploring Beautiful York
Before the performance, students had the opportunity to wander through the picturesque streets of York, taking in its rich history, charming architecture, and vibrant atmosphere. The mix of culture, art, and heritage made the perfect backdrop for this educational and enriching trip.
Reflecting Over a Meal
To round off the day, the group enjoyed a relaxed meal together—an ideal chance to discuss the play, share reflections, and explore the themes raised in Prima Facie. These conversations helped deepen their understanding and enhanced the learning experience beyond the theatre.
A Day That Inspires Learning
Trips like this are a vital part of Sixth Form life at St John’s. They encourage our students to:
- Engage with professional theatre and the arts
- Explore creative ideas and themes relevant to their courses
- Develop critical thinking and communication skills
- Bond as a community of learners and artists
We couldn’t be prouder of how our students represented St John’s and embraced every part of the day.
