Year 7 students at St John’s Catholic School and Sixth Form in Bishop Auckland have enjoyed their first Geography field trip, with every tutor group visiting High Force in Middleton-in-Teesdale over the past month.

The educational visits gave students the opportunity to learn more about one of the region’s most famous natural landmarks while developing their understanding of waterfalls, rock formations and the surrounding landscape.

During the trip, students explored the High Force area and investigated key geographical features, helping to bring classroom learning to life through first-hand experience. The visits provided valuable opportunities for students to observe physical geography in action and deepen their knowledge of the local environment.

Students were a credit to St John’s throughout the visits, demonstrating excellent behaviour and enthusiasm for learning. They also benefited from glorious weather, allowing them to fully enjoy their time outdoors while taking part in the fieldwork activities.

The High Force trips marked an important milestone for Year 7, providing their first Geography field trip since joining the school and giving them the chance to experience learning beyond the classroom.

The visits were both educational and enjoyable, helping students build their geographical knowledge while appreciating the spectacular natural landscape of Middleton-in-Teesdale.
