Experiencing World-Class Tennis

Last week, 70 students from St John’s Catholic School & Sixth Form College in Bishop Auckland enjoyed an unforgettable trip to Wimbledon, experiencing one of the world's most prestigious sporting events.

The adventure began with a very early start, as students departed school at 2am and even managed to watch the England game on the coach journey south.

A Day at Wimbledon

Arriving at Wimbledon at around 10am, the group had time to explore the grounds and visit the shops before the day's tennis action began.

Students watched two Round 4 Ladies' Singles matches, followed by mixed doubles action, before joining the crowds on the famous hill to watch Fery compete.

The visit provided a fantastic opportunity to witness top-level sport in an iconic setting and experience the unique atmosphere of The Championships.

Exploring London

On the second day, students visited Covent Garden and Leicester Square, taking time to explore the shops and enjoy the performances of the street entertainers before beginning the journey home.

The trip was a wonderful opportunity for students and staff to experience elite sport while also exploring some of London's most famous locations.
