Students at St John's Catholic School and Sixth Form College in Bishop Auckland are celebrating a significant achievement after the school successfully gained the RHS Level 3 School Gardening Award.
The award recognises the hard work and dedication of the students who regularly attended Gardening Club throughout the last academic year and helped gather the evidence required for the accreditation.
The school also extended a special thank you to Mrs Kipling for the time, effort and support provided to students as the gardening project developed.
The achievement marks another milestone for the school's growing garden, which continues to flourish. With a number of exciting developments planned for the coming year, the garden is becoming an increasingly important part of school life and enrichment opportunities for students.
Visitors can catch a glimpse of the garden in the school's new promotional video, which also showcases some of the students who helped make the project a success. The garden will also be open for visitors to see during the school's Open Evening on Tuesday 29 September from 5.30pm.
Gardening Club is just one of around 70 clubs included in St John's Catholic School and Sixth Form College's Autumn Enrichment Programme. The wide range of activities gives students opportunities to develop new skills, explore their interests and build friendships beyond the classroom.
The RHS Level 3 School Gardening Award is a fitting recognition of the commitment shown by the Gardening Club members and reflects the positive impact that enrichment activities can have on student development. As the school garden continues to grow, students can look forward to playing a key role in its future success.
