February’s Love Your Library Month brought an exciting buzz to St John’s Catholic Secondary School and Sixth Form, with students across all year groups diving into reading activities, competitions and creative challenges. We were truly blown away by the quality of the entries submitted—proof that our students have an incredible imagination and a genuine passion for books.
Celebrating Our Competition Winners
A huge congratulations to our standout winners: Jack, Jorga-Anne and Lucy
Each of their entries showcased creativity, originality and a deep appreciation for reading. Their work truly captured the spirit of the National Year of Reading, celebrating books as gateways to adventure, escape and new ideas.
A School Community That Loves Reading
One of the most uplifting parts of the month was seeing just how many of our students treasure the joy of reading. Whether they’re exploring fantasy worlds, diving into gripping mysteries or discovering inspiring real-life stories, it’s clear that books play a meaningful part in their lives.
Reading supports:
- imagination and creativity
- wellbeing and stress relief
- literacy and communication skills
- empathy and personal growth
It’s wonderful to see our students embracing these benefits with such enthusiasm.
Thank You to Our LRC Team
We’d like to extend a special thank you to Miss Heads and our fantastic Learning Resource Centre team. Students consistently describe the LRC as a safe, calm and tranquil space—a place where they can unwind, focus and lose themselves in a great book.
Their hard work and dedication continue to make the LRC a thriving hub of creativity, curiosity and community.
Keep Turning Those Pages
As we continue celebrating the National Year of Reading, we hope our students feel inspired to keep exploring new stories and discovering the magic that books have to offer. Whether for learning or leisure, reading opens doors—and we’re proud to see so many of our young people stepping through them.
