St John’s Catholic School and Sixth Form was delighted to welcome a wide range of professionals into school on Friday to support our Year 10 mock interviews, an important part of our careers education programme.
All Year 10 students took part in the experience, meeting employers from a variety of industries. These included education providers, engineering firms, Bishop Auckland Council, and local independent companies. We were especially pleased to welcome several employers who are former students of St John’s, highlighting the strong and lasting links between the school and its wider community.
Excellent Feedback from Employers
Our students rose to the challenge and represented themselves and the school exceptionally well. Employers spoke very highly of the attitudes of our Year 10 students, the quality of their responses, and St John’s Catholic School and Sixth Form as a whole.
The mock interviews gave students the opportunity to practise professional interview skills, gain confidence, and experience a realistic interview setting. As a result, students now feel more prepared for future interview situations, which will support them as they move forward in their education and career pathways.
Proud Ambassadors for St John’s
We would like to say well done to Year 10 for being such excellent ambassadors for the school and for doing both themselves and St John’s Catholic School and Sixth Form proud.
A sincere thank you goes to all the employers who gave up their time to support our students and to Ms Somers, Dr Little and Hannah, our Careers Advisor, for organising such a successful and valuable morning.
Opportunities like these are an essential part of preparing students for life beyond school, and we are grateful to everyone involved for making the event such a positive experience for our Year 10 cohort.
