St John’s Catholic School and Sixth Form is proud to celebrate recent sporting success, as three of our students took part in the 2026 Durham School Golf Championships held at Beamish Park this week.

The competition was very well attended, with an exceptionally high standard of play throughout the event. Representing St John’s were Sam Johnston, Sam Ramsey and Emmanuel Reed, who competed with confidence and enthusiasm.

Competing with Confidence Against Older Students

As a group of Year 10 students, the boys were competing against Year 11 and Year 12 students, making their performance all the more impressive. Although they did not quite qualify for the next round, they thoroughly enjoyed the experience and are already eager to return and compete again next year.

Throughout the championships, the students displayed fantastic golfing knowledge and etiquette, reflecting both their commitment to the sport and the values of St John’s Catholic School and Sixth Form.

Proud Representatives of St John’s

Excellent work to Sam Johnston, Sam Ramsey and Emmanuel Reed for representing the school so well. Their performance even inspired Mr Turnbull, who has been motivated to try the sport himself following the boys’ efforts on the course.

We are incredibly proud of our students for embracing competitive sport with such positive attitudes and sportsmanship, and we look forward to supporting their future involvement in school sporting events.
