Alumni Success: Former St John’s Student Shines at Northern Stage
Before Christmas, a group of our younger Performing Arts students had the exciting opportunity to visit Northern Stage in Newcastle to watch their magical Christmas production of Beauty and the Beast. This already special trip turned into an unforgettable experience, as the production featured former St John’s student, Conor McCready, in the starring role of the Beast.

College Enrichment Week: Hands-On Learning for Years 8, 9 & 10
During the final week of term, 230 students from Years 8, 9 and 10 had the fantastic opportunity to visit Bishop Auckland College for a series of exciting and highly practical enrichment sessions. This special day allowed our students to explore new skills, discover potential career pathways, and enjoy hands-on learning in professional environments.

Today, our school community at St John’s Catholic School & Sixth Form College, Bishop Auckland, came together for one of the most treasured events of our Advent season—our annual Christmas liturgies, held at the beautiful St Mary’s Church.

St John’s was transformed into a glittering celebration of all things festive and film‑inspired as we welcomed a sell‑out audience to Christmas at the Movies. It was an evening packed with sparkle, joy, and the unmistakable magic of Christmas classics brought to life through music, dance and poetry.
Celebrating Music, Community, and Kindness at St John’s Catholic School and Sixth Form
Last week at St John’s Catholic School and Sixth Form, our choir proudly competed in the Durham Music Service Secondary School Choir of the Year at Ushaw College, showcasing incredible confidence from 12 new members. While we didn’t win, we’re thrilled to perform at The Glasshouse in February as last year’s finalists.
